Herbert Jones and Pavel Tejeda
‘Salsa Strings’ is a Latin music ensemble that transports its audience to a vibrant new musical soundscape.
A fusion of violin, cello and backing track brings a new twist to the rhythms of Salsa, Bolero, Danzon and Cha-cha-cha among others; including some of the songs made famous by the ‘Buena Vista Social Club’.
‘Salsa Strings' creates an ideal musical backdrop for corporate events, private parties, weddings and receptions. It offers a unique opportunity to enjoy live Latin grooves in the company of two talented, classically trained musicians and the illusion of different bands thanks to the magic of music production.
Pavel Tejeda Sanchez was born in Cuba into a musical family and his father, a percussion player, played with some members of the world famous Buena Vista Social Club (BVSC). He was lucky enough to be there when it happened and it was this one of the things that drove him to take up music as his profession. Music is what drives him and whether it be cello or bass, teaching or performing so long as there is dedication and perseverance; good results always follow.
Pavel has been involved with chamber orchestras, trios, church choirs and groups playing his chosen instrument the cello that has been playing for more than 15 years (as a professional). Aside from playing, he has been involved in Musical Arrangement . Having been a session musician, he has gained experience in Classical, Latin , Reggae, Soul and popular music. He has played with artists such as Maxi Priest, Chaka Demus, Kano (with the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra) and Emma Bunton.
